Meaning
Pass through the tissue or substance or its pores or interstices, as of gas.
Classification
Verbs of walking, flying, swimming.
Examples
- Carbon dioxide can transpirate out of the stomata in plant leaves and diffuse into the surrounding air.
- Oxygen molecules in the air outside the body can transpirate through the alveolar walls and capillaries into the bloodstream.
- Water vapor and other gases transpirate through the waterproof and breathable fabric of the membrane.
- Moisture and other volatile substances can transpirate through the microporous structure of the textile material.
- Air with lower humidity can transpirate through the wall of the house, allowing the interior to dry out.
