Prepose (Verb)
Meaning
Place before another constituent in the sentence; "English preposes the adpositions; Japanese postposes them".
Classification
Verbs of touching, hitting, tying, digging.
Examples
- In some languages we prepose terms of endearment when addressing our relatives and close friends.
- English preposes the verb to the subject and the object.
- We usually prepose a short phrase before a verb in an English sentence to form a question.
- Many languages prepose the modifier before the head noun.
- Greek often preposes the definite article to a noun or a pronoun.
