Meaning
Make a compound react with water and undergo hydrolysis.
Classification
Verbs of size, temperature change, intensifying, etc..
Examples
- Alcohols cannot hydrolise without acidic or basic catalysts.
- The reaction required a high temperature for the esters to hydrolise.
- In acid solution, the isocyanate group would start to hydrolise.
- To break the peptide bond, the protein needed to hydrolise.
- A small amount of acidic reagent was added to make the ester hydrolise.
