Persist with actions or an attitude despite the probability that it will cause trouble; "He is asking for trouble with his behavior".

Examples
- By consistently showing up late to work, he's asking for it and will likely face disciplinary action soon.
- Running a red light like that is asking for it and could result in severe consequences if you get caught.
- Continuing to argue with your boss after being told to stop is asking for it and will probably result in your termination.
- Talking back to a police officer like that is asking for it and could get you thrown into jail.
- Posting provocative messages on social media while applying for jobs is asking for it and may harm your employment chances.
