Heading (Noun)

The direction or path along which something moves or along which it lies.

Nouns denoting spatial position.

A line of text serving to indicate what the passage below it is about; "the heading seemed to have little to do with the text".

Nouns denoting communicative processes and contents.

The heading itself was misleading, leading many readers to expect a completely different topic.
By default, most writing software assumes that the first line of a passage is the heading.
The teacher asked her students to write a heading that summarized the main topic of their short essays in one sentence or less.
